Everything You Need To Know About Job Points (for Talent)
Job points are a powerful tool to help you stand out in your job search. Here’s everything you need to know to make the most of this feature:
What are Job Points?
Job points are special bonus points on our platform that you can use when applying for jobs. They help showcase your interest in a position and can give your application extra visibility to employers.
You cannot buy these. You cannot fake these. They are rare, don’t automatically regenerate, and can only be rewarded by doing a few things on the platform. For now, the only way to get them is by referring users to the site (in which you get 5 points for each verified referral, up to 5 referrals a day)
How Do I Get Job Points?
- Daily Free Applications: You start each day with a set number of job applications (5 if you’re verified, 15 if you’re vetted). This has nothing to do with job points. You can apply to 5 jobs with 0 job points
- Job Points: You can earn additional job points through various activities on our platform, such as referring friends. At this time, there is no other way to get job points but we will likely add a few more ways in the future (like when you get vetted)
How Do I Use Job Points?
When applying for a job, you’ll see an option to use job points. You can choose to use anywhere from 0 to the maximum number of points you have available. The more points you use, the higher your application will be prioritized in the employer’s view. Employers will see a priority based on job points and then be recency (the oldest applications with the most job points are at the top).
Vetted talent does not have a higher priority on the applicant list to employers over verified ones. Vetted doesn’t mean an account is automatically better or showing more interest, just that they’ve nailed in on a specific skill set (which may or may not even be relevant to the listing)
Why Should I Use Job Points?
- Stand Out: Applications with job points are sorted to the top of an employer’s list.
- Show Interest: Using points demonstrates your {extra} enthusiasm for the position.
- Increase Visibility: Employers are more likely to notice and review applications with job points first.
Best Practices for Using Job Points
- Use points strategically for jobs you’re most interested in.
- Don’t feel pressured to use points on every application – save them for your top choices.
- Keep earning bonus points by staying active on the platform and learning how we award points.
Remember
While job points can give your application a boost, they’re not a substitute for a well-crafted application. Always ensure your profile is up-to-date and your application message is tailored to each job you apply for. This likely matters waaaaay more than job points.
Happy job hunting, and may your points serve you well in landing your dream job!
