Test Scorer — Grades 5–8 Science Remote  · Full-time ·

About the role We are seeking detail-oriented, science-literate individuals to score student responses for standardized assessments in grades 5 through 8. As a test scorer, you will evaluate written student responses — including short answers and extended responses — using established scoring rubrics. This is a fully remote, full-time, project-based position ideal for educators or individuals with a strong background in science and near-fluent English skills.

What you'll do

• Read and score student-written responses to grades 5–8 science assessment items
• Apply established scoring rubrics consistently and accurately across all responses
• Complete required calibration training and maintain inter-rater reliability standards
• Meet daily productivity and quality benchmarks throughout the scoring window
• Work within an online scoring platform from your home or office

Required qualifications

• Near-fluent English reading and comprehension — this is a strict requirement
• Strong comprehension of middle school science concepts
• Excellent attention to detail and consistency
• Reliable internet connection and computer access

Preferred qualifications

• Teaching or tutoring experience in science
• Prior standardized test scoring experience
• Familiarity with U.S. science curriculum standards
• Experience evaluating student writing

Schedule Full-time, 40 hours per week. 

What to expect Before scoring live responses, all scorers complete a training and calibration phase. You must pass accuracy checks to qualify for live scoring. Once active, work volume is consistent and full-time for the duration of the project.
