Overview

About Us We are Blind 8, a hospitality and media brand dedicated to fostering human connection and social bravery by hosting curated dinner parties for complete strangers. We are currently documenting our journey of building a spontaneous community from scratch in Austin, TX, and collaborating with creators to spread the mission. We are looking for a talented, proactive short-form video editor to join our team full-time and help tell our story.

The Role

  • Compensation: $800 USD / month

  • Hours: Full-time (40 hours/week)

  • Output: 4–5 high-quality short-form videos per week

What You’ll Be Working On You will be the creative engine behind our short-form content. You'll primarily be editing two staple series, alongside a couple of experimental one-off formats each week:

  1. The "Day X" Series: A documentary-style vlog following our progression as we build a community from the ground up. These videos highlight our wins, challenges, and next steps, usually opening with a hook like: "This is Day 30 of building Austin's most spontaneous community."

  2. "Behind the Sign": Our signature game-show style format where we put well-known creators behind a cardboard sign. We time them to see how fast they can recruit 8 complete strangers on the street for their own event or one of our Blind 8 dinner parties.

What We’re Looking For

  • Master of Retention: You know exactly how to pace a video, use scroll-stopping visuals, and craft edits that increase watch time, engagement, and completion rates.

  • Proactive & Strategic: We don't just want someone to follow instructions; we want a creative partner. If you have a better idea for a hook, a visual gag, or a structural change, we expect you to pitch it so we can constantly iterate and improve.

  • Speed & Reliability: You thrive in a fast-paced environment, can handle quick turnarounds (2-3 staple videos + one-offs weekly), and respond promptly to feedback and iterations.

  • Storyteller: You understand that beneath the fast cuts and subtitles, there needs to be a compelling narrative about human connection and taking leaps of faith.

What We’re Looking For

  • Edit and post 4-5 videos per week (20/month) to TikTok and Instagram Reels.

  • Follow provided scripts, shot lists, and creative direction with precision.

  • Format videos for each platform, including subtitles, pacing, transitions, and trending audio.

  • Maintain our storytelling style and brand tone across all content.

  • Deliver edits on a consistent timeline and incorporate feedback quickly.

Requirements to Apply

  • Portfolio showcasing highly engaging, narrative-driven short-form content (TikTok, IG Reels, YouTube Shorts).

  • Ability to overlap with US Central Time (CST) for communications and feedback.

  • Proficiency in standard editing software (Premiere Pro, CapCut, DaVinci, or Final Cut).
