The short answer

HireTalent.ph if you want the search done for you. The strongest candidates in 10 business days, you hire directly, and you pay 20% of first-year salary once (about $2,160 for a $900-a-month VA) with a 90-day replacement guarantee. Or search our pre-screened pool yourself for $88/mo.

Stay on OnlineJobs.ph if you will screen, interview, pay and manage the person yourself. At $69 to $99 a month, nothing is cheaper for that.

Pick Upwork for short projects with escrow. Pick a managed VA service (Wing, Virtual Coworker) when you want someone else to employ and replace the worker, and expect to pay roughly $6 to $18 an hour for it.

03 · The baseline

What you get from OnlineJobs.ph.

The biggest Philippines-only database: it claims more than 5,000,000 Filipino profiles. Free accounts can post up to 3 jobs but cannot contact anyone. Pro is $69 a month ($299 a year) and lets you contact 75 workers a month from their profiles. Premium is $99 a month ($349 a year), with 500 contacts, background data checks and an AI shortlist. You can message everyone who applies to your job on either paid plan; the caps only apply to cold outreach. There is no markup on salaries, and you can cancel once you have hired.

What you do not get: anyone screening for you, skills testing, payroll, escrow or a replacement if the hire leaves. Profiles carry an "ID Proof" score from 0 to 99, which the site says confirms identity, not skill. That is the gap every option below fills, at a price.

04 · Option by option

The other options, honestly.

Upwork: best for short projects with payment protection

A global freelance marketplace. You pay a 5% marketplace fee on every payment (3% for eligible US clients paying by bank transfer) plus $0.99 to $14.99 per new contract. Business Plus raises the fee to 10%. Freelancers pay their own fee on top, which pushes their rates up. Escrow and dispute handling are the real reason to use it. The catch for long-term hires: the fee never stops, and the Filipino pool sits inside a global one.

VirtualStaff.ph: best for direct hiring with admin help

The closest model to OnlineJobs.ph with more support. You pay $99 a month for each person plus the salary you agree, which goes to the worker in full. A typical full-time total runs $699 to $1,299 a month. The first seat is refundable within 30 days. They describe their role as "payroll support" rather than employing the worker, and contract terms are not published.

Wing Assistant: best when you want a VA this week

A managed service. $699 a month buys 80 hours and $999 a month buys 160, with a $35 monthly fee if you pay by card. Wing employs the assistant, replaces them for free and claims you can be live in 48 hours. Two things to know: its FAQ says assistants are based all over the world, so a Filipino hire is not guaranteed, and Wing's own Manila job ads pay assistants $445 to $735 a month, so a large share of the price is the service.

Virtual Coworker: best for managed staff priced by role

A Philippine staffing agency that publishes hourly rates, from $7 an hour for a virtual assistant up to $18 for a mobile developer, with its fee built in. No recruitment fee, a 20 hours a week minimum, and the agency handles HR and payroll. Clear and predictable. The worker stays the agency's, so you pay the margin for as long as they work for you.

Outsourcing Angel: best for Australian businesses

An Australian agency with a split price: a service fee of AUD 800, 1,200 or 1,800 a month, plus a talent cost from about AUD 10 an hour that goes to the worker. A 30-day placement guarantee and a 90-day onboarding period. The open fee split is unusual and useful. The service fee is high next to a single VA's pay.

Remote Staff: best for hourly managed staff, if you will take a call

One all-inclusive hourly rate, by quote only. Remote Staff runs payroll and Philippine statutory payments. Custom recruitment needs a deposit, returned as credit if they do not fill the role within 6 weeks. You will not know the price until you speak to sales.

Toptal: best for senior specialists, not VAs

A screened network of senior freelancers. $79 a month for the platform plus a talent rate you get by quote, with a trial of up to two weeks. Excellent for a senior engineer or finance lead. Most of its experts are in the Americas and Europe, and the rates are many times a Filipino VA's, so it rarely belongs on this list for an admin or support hire.

LinkedIn and Facebook groups: best if you have time and a network

Posting in Filipino VA groups or on LinkedIn costs nothing, and some of the best hires come from referrals. You get no vetting, no payment protection and a lot of messages to sort. JobStreet is built for local Philippine employers and prices listings by role and location, so it suits office-based roles more than remote work for an overseas business.

05 · Choosing

Three questions decide it.

  • Will you run the hiring yourself? If yes, OnlineJobs.ph or VirtualStaff.ph. If no, a recruiter, a managed service or an agency.
  • Do you want to employ the person, or rent them? Hiring directly means the worker keeps their whole pay and the relationship is yours. Agencies and managed services employ them and charge a margin every month.
  • How long is the role? For a few weeks of work, Upwork. For a role you hope lasts years, a one-time cost beats a monthly margin within the first year.

The full arithmetic on one-time against monthly costs is in direct hire vs staffing agency.

FAQ

Questions people actually ask.

What is the best alternative to OnlineJobs.ph?
If you want the hiring done for you, HireTalent.ph: our recruiters find and interview candidates, you hire directly and pay 20% of first-year salary once. If you would rather do it yourself, it depends on how much support you want. For a do-it-yourself hire with a little more support, VirtualStaff.ph at $99 per seat per month. For short projects, Upwork, at a 5% client fee. For a managed assistant you do not have to recruit, Wing Assistant at $699 to $999 a month or Virtual Coworker at $7 to $18 an hour.
Is there anything cheaper than OnlineJobs.ph?
Only free channels such as Facebook groups and LinkedIn, where you get no vetting or payment protection. Among paid services, nothing on this list is cheaper than $69 a month for reaching Filipino workers you then hire and pay yourself.
How much does a Filipino virtual assistant cost through an agency?
Published prices for a full-time assistant range from about $999 a month (Wing Assistant, 160 hours) to $7 to $18 an hour at Virtual Coworker, depending on the role. Those prices include the worker’s pay. Through a job board you pay the salary you agree plus the subscription.
Is OnlineJobs.ph better than Upwork for hiring Filipinos?
For long-term hires, usually yes: a flat monthly fee instead of a percentage on every payment, and a Philippines-only pool. Upwork is better for short projects because it holds payment in escrow and handles disputes.
How is HireTalent.ph different from OnlineJobs.ph?
OnlineJobs.ph gives you a large open database and you do the screening. HireTalent.ph reviews every professional before they appear, and its main service is recruiting: we run the search and you hire the person directly for a one-time 20% of first-year salary. The trade-off is a much smaller pool.
